[ Hello, if you're here, this is a voice testing / general purpose meme thread post for Catra. Feel free to pick a prompt, or ask me to write something specific if you don't like any of the ones on offer. If your character is from a different canon, feel free to assume they're in a Basic Unspecified Dreamwidth JamJar Game unless you'd like to specify otherwise. ]

#1 - this is our "get along" shirt
[ Somewhere, somehow, you and Catra got handcuffed together. How? Up to you. Maybe you captured her for breaking the law and lost the key. Maybe they just magically appeared. Please do not make it a sex thing.

The handcuffs seemingly cannot be broken. You'll just have to learn to get along. This is not easy, however, when Catra is currently trying to claw them off with her free hand and dragging your hand along for the ride. Watch you don't get scratched. Those claws are sharp. ]

#2 - catty day care
[ Some idiot decided it was a good decision to have Catra babysit a bunch of toddlers. It is... not going well. To say the least. At least two appear to be trying to pull her tail, and one is crawling on her head and biting her ear. Catra is hissing mightily, tail as fluffed up as they come. ]

Listen up you bunch of emergency rations! [ Another one stands at her feet asking to be picked up, another one sitting at her feet and crying, another one wrapped around her leg like a koala. They seem to be taking no notice. ] Get off me! Get! Off!! I'll kill you!

#3 - steal
[ Whoever you are, where ever you are, Catra just swiped your drink, or the drink of someone else nearby you! (Let's be real, it was probably a kid.) Was it coffee? Tea? Cola? Slushie? It doesn't matter. She's merrily making her way away, off through the crowd, not making any attempt to hide or run. She sure is brazen. ]

#4 - snoop
[ Perhaps there's a rustle of leaves, or you see a telltale silhouette of ears in your periphery vision. Well, whatever it is you're doing, Catra is spying on or following you. Question is, what are you doing that deserves being snooped on? Or... were you just going about your everyday life, and Catra is just being a weirdo? ]

[Ryuko dodges these swipes with the braggadocious ease of someone who's used to beating up random mobs of feral children for breakfast, a laughing smirk on her face as she slurps on the slushie herself.]

[ If nothing else, that makes Catra stop reaching for the slushie as she looks at Ryuko in surprise-- face comically puzzled. ]

... What? Gross. Who does that?

[humming, flicking her gaze thataway at nothing] Buncha stupid and self-involved no-good-for-nothing just plain weirdos, mostly ...

[then locking gaze with Catra again, smiling, open-mouthed, in an absolutely punchable cross between gormless sincerity and shit-eating sarcasm.] So you can't blame me for being cautious 'bout where your brain mighta gone, now can you?

It's cool, you're probably nice but the stealing from five year olds really makes you not my type, you know? I prefer the kind of bratty who can pick on a girl her own size.

But - [more seriously, slurping on that slushie as she walks backwards without bothering to even look like she has to look where she's going as she does so, just so she can keep pace and eye contact with Catra] - what's the deal? You got something against kids? I know they're all yelly and screamy but did a kid ... I dunno. Did one of them pull a shiv on you when you were their age or something?

What? [ A grin. A little chuckle. ] No.

They're just easy targets.

Oh, so you're just a bully.

[she sounds ... so disappointed, but not really in the judging way, just in the "Why do you have to be so generic, I was hoping for something exciting" way.]

[ Wow, excuse you. Catra isn't "just" anything. ]

Aw! What, did you want me to spin you some sob story?

I don't have one. I just get what I want.

No? Don't care about that sorta thing? What, are you some kinda cosplay fan gone all [she does finger gestures to emphasize the word] weird or something?

'Cause that'd explain why you think stealing from a literal baby's a fight worth bragging about to somebody, I figure.

I don't even know what that is! You're the weird one for getting all hung up about this! Who even cares this much about some random kid, anyway?

[disregarding that last part for the first part]

Wait, so, what, the ears are real?

[ Almost as if in answer, Catra gives a distinctly irritated ear twitch. ]

Duh. What else would they be?

A cosplay ...? Real invasive back-alley surgical wizardry? Club uniform?

Holy shit! With how much that kinda thing costs, your family must be loaded.

Are you brain damaged? They're just my ears!

[Ryuko blinks as her brain gearshifts in response to this information, then quick as a snake whips a smartphone from out of nowhere and there is the synthetic mimicry of a shutter-clicking, followed by her thumb moving fast over the screen.]

[there's a really great set of LINE stickers that are certainly what she actually used here but those can't be inlined so imagine the one for "LUCKY" here where the alien emoji is, instead: mako holy shit look at this i met a REAL LIVE SPACE ALIEN 👽]

[ Etheria doesn't exactly have smartphones, so Catra just watches this display with confusion and suspicion. ]

What are you doing?

[ If Ryuko looks away from her phone, she might even see an irritated tail lash. ]

[Ryuko, who does not have the level of complicated thought processing necessary to dissemble or lie, as she slides the phone back into the same pouch that also hides a certain shrunken scissor-blade because what's the use of pockets that only hold one thing, that's ridiculous:]

Tellin' my girlfriend I met a space alien. Leaving out the part where I met her 'cause she was stealing a slushie from some rando kid, though!

[ One of Catra's hands go to her ears subconsciously, suddenly self-conscious. ]

What? They're not that weird!

[undergarments]

Nah, they're ... [she pauses, giving a really serious look at them] kinda cute, actually. [she gruffs it out, the way a grizzled gunslinger might grit out something about another cowpoke's good aim through a drawn-down deadpan face, or something like. then she ruins it by softening the appraisal with a light smile.]

Anybody ever tell you that?

Cute? [ Her voice goes comically high pitched on the word. ] What! No! They're not cute, they're intimidating!

Yep, real intimidating. I'm so intimidated I'm even drinking the slushie you stole.
