I'm not trying to dig into your personal stuff here, but what did she say right before she got upset?

She said she wanted to make a "new promise" between us. And I told her no way.

I don't get why it's such a big deal, though. You'd think she'd be happy I'm not holding her to anything anymore.

Promises are unrealistic and it was stupid of me to hold her beholden to it in the first place. I don't know why she'd wanna go back to that. I don't.

Look. I've been back home. She hasn't. She doesn't know what it's like when you find yourself back home and you don't remember being here at all. And then you wake up back here, and it all comes flooding back to you.

I don't want either of us to get too invested in a stupid promise we might not be able to keep.
